During my production class for the Ubisoft Gamelab competition, I had the opportunity to work with a talented team of fellow students on a game called Spartakids. Our goal was to create a game that embodied the student experience through play and imagination.

Our team decided to take an abstract approach to the prompt, which led us to the concept of a boss fight on a playground where reality and fantasy merge. The game mechanics were designed to personify learning through play, which allowed players to experiment with different weapon types and exchange perks with their teammate. This unique CO-OP mechanic was our most collaborative aspect of the game and challenged players to support each other in order to defeat the boss.

As the project progressed, I took on a leadership role in the team and found ways to support my fellow teammates in areas where they needed help. I focused on developing my skills in the engine and worked on creating particles, cinematics, and sounds to help polish the gameplay for our players.

Overall, Spartakids was a valuable learning experience for me. I was able to grow my skills in leadership, teamwork, and game development. The abstract concept of the game pushed me to think creatively and encouraged me to take risks in the game design. The collaborative nature of the CO-OP mechanics taught me the importance of communication and teamwork in creating a successful game. I am proud of what our team accomplished and I am excited to see where this experience will take me in the future.
